Chat Masala Recipe Chaat Masala Powder

Homemade Chat Masala Recipe chaat masala powder, is one common spice mix that is used in chaats such as Aloo chaat, papri chaat, fruit chaat, samosa chaat. It is a simple and easy to make spice mix. It has got a long shelf life. So do try it. Apart from being a yummy spice mix, it is also a good digestive aid.

Ingredients
  

Ingredients to make 1 cup masala

For dry roasting:

  • Cumin seeds jeera – 2 tbsp
  • Coriander seeds dhania- 2 tbsp
  • Black pepper seeds – 1 tbsp
  • For adding while grinding:
  • Carom seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Red chili powder – 1 tsp
  • Dry ginger powder – 1 tbsp
  • Black salt Kala Namak – 1 ½ tbsp
  • Rock salt – 1 tbsp
  • Dry mango powder – 2 tbsp
  • Asafetida hing – ½ tbsp

Instructions
 

To Prepare chaat masala:

  • Dry roast cumin, coriander and pepper seeds separately to remove moisture and to bring out the aroma. Set aside to cool.
  • Once cool, grind together all the ingredients to make fine powder.
  • Store in an airtight jar.

Notes

Tips
  • This powder will keep for many months. Remember to use only a dry spoon everytime. I usually keep a small spoon it the container and use that.
  • Apart from using in chaats, You can use it to flavor salads, juices, vegetables, curries etc
