Ingredients to make spring onion subzi to serve 2
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 1/2 tsp mustard/mohori/rai
- 1/2 tsp cumin/jeera seeds
- 1/4 tsp hing/asafoetida
- 1 cup Spring Onion's white portion, chopped
- 1 cup Spring onion greens/ Leaves, chopped
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt – ½ tsp or as per taste
- 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
- 2-3 tbsp besan/Gram Flour/chickpea flour
Optional Ingredients
- 3-4 Garlic Cloves, chopped or grated
- 2 tbsp Coconut, grated
Instructions
Step by step instructions for making spring onion subji
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Add mustard and cumin seeds. Let splutter.
- Add hing.
- Add chopped white onion portion from spring onion.
- Fry for a minute.
- Add turmeric powder. Mix.
- Add spring onion greens and mix.
- Cover and cook for 2 minutes on low flame.
- Add salt, jaggery or sugar and red chili powder.
- add 2-3 tbsp besan(chickpea flour). Mix well.
- Cover and cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes.
- Stir once in between.
- Spring onion dry subji is ready.
Tips and variations
- Serve with chapatti, rice, roti, bhakri etc.
- You may add garam masala if you wish.

- 1/2 tsp cumin(jeera) seeds
- 1/4 tsp hing
